Aude, south of France
The Aude is one of France's most southerly departments. Part of the Occitanie region, it is bounded to the north by the foothills of the Massif Central, to the south by the Pyrenees mountain range, and to the east by the coast of the Mediterranean. A predominantly rural department with a great diversity of landscapes, its principal towns are Carcassonne and Narbonne.
