Saint Paul de Fenouillet

Driving through the Gorge du Galamus is not for the faint-hearted. There is a stout wall alongside, but the drop beyond it is awesome, and there's plenty of rocky overhang above in places. So not somewhere to take a camper van (unless it's small). In the summer there's a 'convoy' system for traffic which keeps things orderly. At other times of year this doesn't operate, and there are certain places where meeting another car can involve some tortuous reversing. There is plenty of parking at the southern end and some space at the northern end, though this can fill up quickly as the pools in the river at the upper end of the gorge are popular basking and dipping spots in summer.
